You either need to play a deck that runs it or a deck that’s good against it. The current meta is completely wrapped by Yogg. And did it help? Sure, it made Druid a bit worse (not by A LOT, mind you), but Druid is only the symptom of the problem, not the problem itself. We just had an emergency hotfix earlier this week banning The Jailer from Standard and Wild. I’m rarely 100% sure about a nerf, but this one is basically guaranteed. And so, your opponent needs to deal with that 7/5 body even more than if he was just a normal 7/5 that can attack. He NEEDS to get removed, because even though he doesn’t get to attack the turn after you play him, he gets to do something even better (use one of the other abilities). You might say that his statline is not important because he almost never gets to live until his second turn – but that’s exactly why his stats matter too. Or a lot of 1/1’s ( Chaotic Tendrils) that most of the time give you a lot of extra value. Many decks can make him cost 0 mana very, very quickly – and then he’s just a 0 mana 7/5 giving you Mind Control or a better Mass Hysteria. Most of the decks can do it – even if the main build doesn’t run that many of them, there are some extra tricks to make it work (like Hunter’s 3 in 1 spells such as Bunch of Bananas or cards that draw/generate more spells like Nerubian Vizier). But as it turns out, it’s not that hard to cast a lot of spells nowadays. It makes sense, right? You need to cast a lot of spells to discount him. Sure, at first he only saw play in decks that were basically fully made of spells. More and more people realize that they can put him into their decks. Those aren’t official stats, of course, but HSReplay has a big enough sample size to be pretty on point. Going down to Diamond, it keeps a strong 41% play rate (#1) and even in Bronze-Gold it’s at 35% play rate (#1). But it’s not just Legend thing that doesn’t affect the rest of the ladder. That obviously puts it it at #1 spot in terms of popularity. The number was at 51% yesterday, so it’s still growing. At the time I’m writing this, the card is present in 54% of decks in Legend. I won’t go as far as “the strongest”, but it’s up there. Or maybe let’s put it another way – Yogg-Saron, Unleashed is one of the strongest card released in the last few expansions. Spending Dust on hyped Legendaries on Day 1 is a very common mistake, and can leave you without the means to craft the actual meta Legendaries after everything settles.Fall of Ulduar has been out for almost 2 weeks now and I can safely say it right now – the mini-set had the biggest impact on the meta out of all of the mini-sets so far. If you are a budget player, we recommend holding off for at least a week before committing to crafting anything. This has happened multiple times in the past, and most likely will happen to at least one or two decks this expansion too. A deck can be popular one day and then never heard from again. If this isn’t your first expansion then this is obvious, but be very wary of decks early in the expansion. After the first few days, we start posting less, as meta forms, decks become more refined and it’s getting clear which builds are good and which aren’t. During the first couple of days, we aren’t very picky – there are no deck statistics so early, so we can’t sift through the bad decks. Once the expansion launches, we will be feverishly posting new decks for the first few days. Things will look interesting over the next few days! If you weren’t with us during the reveal season, you can learn more about the expansion and see all the new cards in our Forged in the Barrens expansion guide. Between that and the Core Set replacing Basic + Classic, the rotation should have a massive impact on the meta and how the game is played. Rise of Shadows, Saviors of Uldum and Descent of Dragons all had a ton of strong cards that will no longer be playable in Standard. It’s worth noting that the expansion comes with the biggest rotation in Hearthstone’s history – in terms of pure numbers, but most likely also in terms of power. We will be keeping this post updated throughout the beginnings of the new expansion (roughly the first 4-5 days).įorged in the Barrens is the first expansion of the Year of the Gryphon (2021). You will be able to find decks for all 10 classes. Our Forged in the Barrens decks roundup features a long list of decks that have been played by Legendary players, pros, and streamers. We will no longer update this post! Click here for the latest list of decks!
